What is short-term and long-term disability?

Some injuries require people to stay home from work and rest during their recovery period. Others prevent people from returning to their former occupation at all. In either case, the injured person will generally need compensation to cover their missed wages.

If you have to miss work for seven continuous days or longer, you could be eligible for short-term disability payments cover 2/3 of your usual salary. If your doctor decides you are unable to work at all, you could be eligible for long-term disability payments.
