What is a workers' compensation lien?

When a workplace injury is fully or partially caused by a third party, the injured party can generally file for workers' compensation while also filing a claim against the third party. However, the workers' compensation insurance provider may also file a lien against the same party. If this happens, the insurance company will take of the plaintiff's damages for their own compensation.

For more information about workers' compensation and potential complications that can arise in this system, contact a Charleston workers' compensation attorney through the Steinberg Law Firm at 843-720-2800.
