What is a workers' compensation lien?
When a workplace injury is fully or partially caused by a third party, the injured party can generally file for workers' compensation while also filing a claim against the third party. However, the workers' compensation insurance provider may also file a lien against the same party. If this happens, the insurance company will take of the plaintiff's damages for their own compensation.
