A bill that would provide worker's compensation coverage for firefighters who are suffering from certain heart and respiratory conditions passed the Senate and the House and has been sent for ratification in South Carolina. Provisions currently in place regarding coverage and pre-existing conditions have been revised in the new bill, allowing for new considerations for coverage. In many cases, the injury will be considered to have risen during the course of employment if the individual has recorded a passing physical exam within the past two years.
