Construction Worker Killed in Excavator Accident

A New Jersey construction worker was killed on Monday after being ran over by an excavator.  Juan Rivera, 52, was working in the backyard of a residence at the time of the accident, according to police.

Rivera and another man were leveling the yard and installing a septic tank.  Police say Rivera was likely run over by the 11-ton excavator when he walked behind it as the other man was backing it up.  He was announced dead at the scene, while the other man was taken to an area hospital after becoming distraught.

Sadly, construction accidents like this one are common.  If you or a loved one has been the victim of a similar worksite injury, it is important to have qualified legal representation on your side.  Contact the Charleston workers' compensation attorneys of The Steinberg Law Firm at 843-720-2800 for more information on your legal right to compensation.
