A 44 year-old North Charleston police officer was released from the hospital earlier this week after he was involved in a car accident Friday morning on Ashley Phosphate Road.

The officer, who is a patrol division supervisor, was struck in his unmarked squad car when a vehicle pulled in front of him. Authorities say that the officer suffered a neck injury and they are unsure of when he will return to work.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a car that had the green light was turning left when it collided with the front of the patrol car. The 30 year-old woman driving the vehicle was given a ticket for failing to yield the right of way.

One dead, one injured in manufacturing plant

by Administrator 8. December 2011 04:44

Police have identified the victim that died after being overcome by toxic fumes last month in a Wisconsin manufacturing plant.

The 55 year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after his coworker's wife found the men unconscious at the Vivid Image Inc. plant. Law enforcement believes the men were mixing two or more chemicals together when the fumes overcame them. Emergency responders say there was a strong chemical odor when they arrived at the scene.

The second man, 65, is in the hospital with serious injuries and is currently in critical condition. OSHA is expected to investigation the accident.

Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the victim.

BMW worker severs arm in accident

by Administrator 25. May 2010 05:01

A BMW facility in Spartanburg County was the site of a workplace injury where a worker lost his arm.

The worker's arm was severed after hitting a door while driving a forklift at a construction site. His arm hit the vertical I-beam and severed below the elbow. The worker was airlifted to the hospital where doctors were able to reattach the arm.

The arm has regained blood flow and officials say that this a good sign that the surgery was successful. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be investigating the accident.

Workplace injuries can be traumatic for all involved. Our thoughts are with the BWM worker and his family.
