A rail worker was killed on the third day of a Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority strike. The worker was walking along a rail that is normally not used by trains when he was struck from behind.
The worker was killed from the injuries sustained in the impact. The rails had to be shut down following the accident so authorities could conduct an investigation into the worker's death.
The accident caused massive delays because the rail system was shut down. Further, many passengers were stranded because normally a transportation authority bus would drop passengers off at their final destination. However because of the strike, no buses were running leaving many individuals stranded.
