Forklift Regulation Agencies

Federal forklift regulations are proposed and maintained by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. States have also adopted their own forklift regulations and plans. Although many regulations vary by state, all forklift operators must be at least 18 years of age and must be properly trained. The OHSA has adopted specific training requirements with which any operator must comply. The requirements are specifically designed to reduce risk in loading and unloading products, working with hazardous material, and maintaining the quality and safety of the forklift.
